Shibori Indigo Fabic Dyeing Class

The process of dyeing natural fabrics in indigo using shibori wrapping techniques creates beautiful patterns.  You will be amazed at your creations.  Join us in this workshop to learn some 4-5 different wrapping techniques and create your choice of items listed below.  You may bring your own shirt or small item to dye if you choose (it must be a natural fiber, cotton, bamboo, silk, etc., to take the dye).

  • 2 kitchen towels and choice of either scarf OR  small canvas pouch OR set of 4 cocktail napkins

OR choice of item below

  • Linen pillow cover - 20" x 20"

  • Large canvas pouch 

  • Beach sarong 

  • Turkish towel

Indigo is one of the oldest dyes to be used on fabric.  Shibori is a set of resist dyeing techniques for fabric developed over centuries in Japan.  The word comes from the root verb shiboru which means “to wring, squeeze, press.”
